Each house, premises and property in the Borough
of Longport, Atlantic County, New Jersey, shall be numbered in accordance
with a map entitled "House Number Map of Longport, NJ" or a title
of like import, prepared by the Tax Assessor of the Borough of Longport
and approved by the Board of Commissioners of the Borough. Said map
shall be on file in the Borough Clerk's office and incorporated herein
by reference.
Every property owner should have the continuing
duty to display the property number assigned to such property by the
House Number Map of the Borough of Longport in such manner that it
is plainly visible to the public on the front of the property of each
and every building owned by said property owner. In the case of a
corner lot, the property line with the least dimensions fronting on
a street shall be considered the frontage. All numbers shall be displayed
by means of a durable printed, carved, cast or other suitable copy
of such number and affixed in a permanent and durable manner.
In the event that any building shall be located
or situated on more than one lot of land, then and in such case the
owner of such property may use all of the numbers assigned hereby
to the premises or, at his option, may use the highest number assigned
thereto.
Any person who violates the provisions hereof
shall, upon conviction, be liable to a fine not to exceed $250 or
by imprisonment for a term of 10 days or by community service for
a period not to exceed 30 days, or any combination thereof.
