[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Margate City 7-22-76 as Ch. 14 of the 1976 Code.[1] Amendments noted where applicable.]

The Board of Education of the City of Margate City be and the same is hereby increased from five to seven members, as provided by N.J.S.A. 18A:12-6.

A. 
The members of the Board of Education shall be appointed between April 1 and April 15, and their terms of office shall begin on May 16 next succeeding, as provided by N.J.S.A. 18A:12-8. Each member of the Board of Education shall serve for a term of three years.
B. 
In case of death, resignation, nonresidence or other cause creating a vacancy in the office of a member of the Board of Education, the person appointed to said Board of Education in his or her place shall be for the unexpired term only.
After this chapter has been finally passed and adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Margate City and published as provided by law, the Mayor of said City shall have the right to appoint two additional members of said Board of Education, whose terms shall expire on February 29, 1972.
