An "employee" is any person regularly employed by the Borough upon a salaried basis whose compensation is computed on an hourly, daily, monthly or yearly basis and who is not an outside consultant.
A. 
A "permanent regular employee" is any employee who has been appointed as a full-time employee by the Mayor and Council for one year. A "tenured employee" is any employee who has attained tenure (provided by state statute for certain positions), except a person who is within one of the categories provided in Subsections C(1) and C(2) below. "Continuous employment" mean uninterrupted employment by the Borough, in any position or positions. Time spent on authorized vacation, sick leave or other authorized or excused absence with pay, is included in computing the period of full-time employment.
B. 
A "probationary employee" is:
(1) 
Any person hired for a permanent position, who has not completed six months of service with the Borough, which is the working test period required for qualification as a permanent employee;
(2) 
A permanent employee who has been promoted, transferred or reassigned to a new position and is serving a working test period before attaining permanent status on the new position.
C. 
A "temporary employee" is any person:
(1) 
Who has been hired for a fixed period of employment, whether for more or less than 12 months and is usually paid on a per diem, hourly or daily rate;
(2) 
Who has been hired to fill a position vacated either by an employee who has entered the armed forces of the United States of America or by an employee absent on an authorized leave of absence.
D. 
An "outside consultant" is any person specifically hired or retained by the Borough in a consultant capacity and/or to render special services of an expert or specialized nature and such person shall be deemed to be an outside consultant, whether or not he is paid upon a per diem, monthly, yearly or fee basis.
E. 
A "full-time employee" is a person employed by the Borough, other than an outside consultant, who on a regular basis works at least 35 hours per week. A "part-time employee" is a person employed by the Borough, other than an outside consultant, who on a regular basis works less than 35 hours per week.

The base salaries and positions of employment within the Borough of Maywood shall be those positions set forth in the most current Salary Ordinance[1] of the Borough of Maywood.
