There is hereby established a Recreation Advisory Board.
The Recreation Advisory Board shall consist of seven members, all residents of the Borough of Maywood, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent and approval of the Council.
A. 
All appointments shall be made for terms of three years; provided, however, that the members serving at the time of the effective date of this chapter shall continue to serve for the balance of their terms and the initial terms of any additional members appointed shall be staggered so as to provide three terms for three years, two terms for two years and two terms for one year.
B. 
All terms shall expire on December 31 of the last year for which the appointments shall have been made or until their respective successors are appointed and shall qualify.
C. 
Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
D. 
The members of the Board shall receive no compensation for their services; provided, however, that Board members may be reimbursed for expenses for which prior approval has been obtained in accordance with the purchasing practices of the Borough of Maywood.
A. 
A quorum of the Board shall consist of four members.
B. 
Votes on all matters shall be determined by a majority of a quorum present.
C. 
The Board shall meet at least once each month at a time and place to be determined at the initial meeting of the Board and annually thereafter at the January meeting of each year, as may be amended from time to time.
D. 
The Board shall organize and elect one of its members as Chairperson and such other officers that it deems necessary at the initial meeting of the Board and annually thereafter at the January meeting.
The Recreation Advisory Board shall study and advise the Mayor and Council respecting programs, activities, maintenance and operation of the public playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation centers and other recreational facilities and activities on any of the properties owned or controlled by the Borough. The Board shall report to the Mayor and Council regarding its studies and shall recommend implementing programs, directives, ordinances and resolutions to the Mayor and Council and shall perform all other studies, advisory, recommendatory and other functions as the Mayor and Council shall from time to time request of it. The Board shall make full and complete monthly and annual reports to the Mayor and Council and other reports from time to time as may be requested.
A. 
There is hereby established the position of Activities Director at a salary to be determined in the annual salary ordinances adopted by the Mayor and Council.[1]

The Activities Director shall attend meetings of the Recreation Advisory Board.
C. 
The Activities Director shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Borough Administrator, subject to the oversight of the Mayor and Council.
D. 
The Activities Director shall, in consultation with the Recreation Advisory Board and the Borough Administrator, plan, supervise and conduct programs and activities of the Borough's public playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation centers and other recreational facilities and any of the properties owned and controlled by the Borough, including, but not limited to, recreational programs, cultural activities, youth programs and senior citizen programs.
