This chapter shall be known and may be cited
as the “Village of New Haven Curfew Ordinance.”
This chapter is enacted for the purpose of regulating
the hours in which minor children under the age of 18 years may appear
on the public streets or in any other public place in the Village
of New Haven.
A.
No child under 12 years of age may be upon the public
streets or in any public place between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and
6:00 a.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian or by some other
adult delegated by the parent or guardian to accompany said child.
B.
No child under 18 years of age may be upon the public
streets or in any public place between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and
6:00 a.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday or between
the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday unless
such minor is:
(1)
Accompanied by a parent or guardian or by some other
adult delegated by the parent or guardian to accompany said minor;
or
(2)
In any such public place in connection with some legitimate
work, trade, profession or occupation in which such minor is engaged;
or
(3)
On an errand directed by his or her parent or guardian;
or
(4)
Returning directly home from a school-sponsored or
related event.
Any person over the age of 17 years assisting, aiding, abetting, allowing, permitting or encouraging any minor under the age of 18 years to violate § 209-3 of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

In addition to other penalties, any person found guilty of violating this chapter shall be punished as set forth in Chapter 59, Municipal Civil Infractions, of the Code of the Village of New Haven.
