The map entitled "Map of the Borough of Highland
Park, New Jersey" showing official street names and numbers ordered
by the Borough Council March 14, 1912, prepared from Borough Tax Map
by H.R. Segoine, Borough Engineer, consisting of two volumes designated
as Volume 1 and 2, respectively filed in the office of the Clerk of
this Borough on April 10, 1913, by direction of a resolution of the
Council of the Borough is hereby approved as the Official Map of the
Borough and as correctly showing the names of the streets and avenues
thereof.
A.
The streets and avenues of the Borough shown and delineated
on the Map shall hereafter be known and designated by the names thereof
respectively as the names appear on the Map.
B.
The streets and avenues shall be marked at the intersections
thereof with their respective names as set forth by this chapter in
such manner as the Borough Council may direct.

A.
The plan for the numbering of houses and buildings
set forth on said Map which provided for assigning a number to each
section of 25 feet frontage on the streets and avenues of the Borough
and by showing the number of blocks East of First Avenue and North
and South of Raritan Avenue by the hundreds is hereby adopted and
approved.
B.
The Borough Clerk is empowered to assign building
numbers for any properties not shown on said Map and to renumber properties
within the Borough where the best interest of public safety so requires.

The owner of each house and/or building shall
affix to such house or building the number assigned by the Map of
the Borough Clerk. All numbers and letters shall be at least four
inches in height and shall be placed so that they are clearly visible,
without obstruction from the street. The color of all numbers must
contrast with the color of the surrounding surfaces. In addition,
the Borough shall reserve the right to require the posting of building
number signs at curbside where necessary in the best interest of public
safety.

House and building numbers and building number
signs, as required by this chapter, shall be periodically maintained
as needed to provide continued clear visibility from the street. The
property owner shall be responsible for said maintenance.

This chapter shall be known as the "Street Name
and House Numbering Ordinance."
