A.
The Water Department shall be kept informed of the
identity of the person responsible for the water piping on all premises
concerned with these regulations. At each premise where it is necessary
in the opinion of the Water Department, a Water Supervisor shall be
designated. This Water Supervisor shall be responsible for the installation
and use of pipelines and equipment for the avoidance of cross-connections,
compliance with these regulations and for reporting to the Water Department
any changes in water usage.
B.
In the event of contamination or pollution of the
drinking water system due to a cross-connection on the premises, the
Water Department shall be promptly advised by the person responsible
for the water system so that appropriate measures may be taken to
overcome the contamination.
The Water Department shall have the right of
ingress to and egress from the customer's premises at all reasonable
hours for any purpose reasonably related to the furnishing of water
service, and the exercise of any and all rights secured to it by law
or this chapter, including inspection of the customer's piping and
equipment as to compliance with the New York State Building Construction
Code[1] and these regulations.

A.
The Water Department shall have the authority to immediately
discontinue services to premises where:
(1)
The cross-connection constitutes a hazard to the public
water system.
(2)
The user violates or fails to comply with any of the
provisions of this chapter.
(3)
The backflow prevention device required by this chapter
is not installed, tested or maintained as required by this chapter.
(4)
The backflow prevention device is found to be defective.
(5)
The backflow prevention device has been removed or
bypassed.
(6)
Unprotected cross-connections exist on the premises.
B.
Service shall not be restored until such violation
or defect has been corrected.
