[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Kings Point 5-10-1989 by L.L. No. 8-1989. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Kings Point, being fully cognizant of the limited confines of the Village and the close proximity therein of residential and other structures and property inhabited and used by residents of the Village and being aware that the use of firearms and similar weapons in the Village is a matter affecting the public health, safety and welfare which should be subject to control by the Village, intends, by this chapter, to regulate the discharge of such weapons within the Village of Kings Point.
A. 
Except as provided in Subsection B of this section, no person shall fire or discharge or cause to be fired or discharged any firearm, machine gun, rifle or shotgun within the boundaries of the Village of Kings Point.
B. 
The prohibitions contained in Subsection A of this section shall not apply to any police officer or any peace officer while engaged in the performance of his or her duties, nor shall they apply to any person acting in self-defense.[1]
