The carrying and discharge of loaded firearms is prohibited in the Town of Lloyd in any public place, place of public assembly, school, school grounds, and within an area bounded as follows: Beginning at the low waterline of the Hudson River 500 feet southerly of the south limits of the Mid Hudson Bridge; running thence westerly 500 feet southerly of said bridge and of the westerly bridge approach following the branches thereof extending southerly and forming the intersection of said west bridge approach and State Highway US 9W, and continuing westerly from the center of said US 9W to the southerly boundary of Highland Cemetery, continuing westerly along said northerly boundary 500 feet; and running thence northerly and easterly to a point in the center of Highland New Paltz State Road 500 feet northerly of Grand Street; thence easterly parallel to and 500 feet northerly of Grand Street to the center of the Clearwater Road and along the center of Clearwater Road following the southerly branch to the center of Bellevue Road; and thence due east to the low waterline of the Hudson River; and thence along the low watermark of the Hudson River southerly to the place of beginning; and also along, upon or across any public highway in said Town and for a distance of 500 feet from such highway, except the northerly side of Clearwater Road.
The discharge of firearms is prohibited in the direction of any building, haystack, hayrick, piles of brush, straw, weeds or other inflammable materials.
The provisions of §§ 56-1 and 56-2 shall not apply to firearms kept or carried pursuant to a license issued pursuant to § 1897 of the Penal Law valid in the Town of Lloyd for the carrying or keeping of weapons, when such firearms are used for the protection of person or property.

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not exceeding $250 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both.
