[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger 5-2-1988
by L.L. No. 2-1988. Amendments noted where applicable.]
It is the intent of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger that all
new buildings constructed after the effective date of this chapter should
be uniquely numbered, so as to provide easy identification for both the general
public as well as emergency vehicles. The Town Board finds that this is in
the best interest of the general health, welfare and safety of all of the
residents of the Town.
The Town Assessor shall, upon receipt of a duly approved subdivision
map or site plan for commercial property, assign a unique number to the building
to be erected on said property, to be unique from any other number on the
same street upon which the premises is located.
Within five days after the assignment of a number or occupancy, whichever
is later, the owner of a property receiving a certificate of occupancy, following
the adoption of this chapter, shall erect upon said property the number given
to the property by the Town Assessor in accordance with the rules and regulations
to be promulgated by the Building Inspector of the Town of Wappinger. Said
number shall be clearly visible from the nearest public highway serving the
property. Said number shall be placed either on the building itself or on
a sign post located at the driveway entrance to said property in accordance
with rules of the Building Inspector.
