[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Somers 5-14-1981 by resolution. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Somers Advisory Committee on the Disabled is hereby created.
The members of the Committee shall be appointed by the Town Board and serve for a period of three years.
Such Committee shall represent the commitment of the Town of Somers to its disabled residents and have as its objectives:
A. 
To study the needs of the disabled and to report as to those needs which are unmet.
B. 
To be alert to all available funding and programs.
C. 
To monitor legislation whose intent is to benefit the disabled.
D. 
To prepare a study for locating the disabled.
E. 
To raise public awareness as to the needs of the disabled.
F. 
To coordinate efforts with neighboring communities concerning the needs of the disabled.
G. 
To assist local residents by providing information about service providers.
H. 
To provide for a central information and referral system and to assist in educating the public about the needs of the disabled.
