Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 44:1-157,[1] the amount to be paid by the Borough toward the necessary and reasonable final arrangement expenses for a deceased indigent person who dies in the Borough without insurance or adequate funds for final arrangements and is not eligible for final arrangements by the United States, State of New Jersey or the County of Burlington is the lesser of $900 or the sum allowed by the Department of Human Services as set forth in N.J.A.C. 10:85-4.8(a)2. The less expensive method of final arrangements shall be utilized.
