Every applicant offered a position for employment by the Township of Pemberton shall, prior to actual employment, be examined by a licensed physician employed by the Township of Pemberton for the purpose of determining that the applicant is physically qualified to perform the duties of the position and that the applicant does not have a disease or physical or mental condition that would constitute a hazard to the health or safety of himself or others.
Every applicant offered a position for employment by the Township of Pemberton shall, prior to actual employment, be subject to a background investigation of his or her driving record and for the existence of any statewide or local criminal record, to include disorderly persons offenses. The information revealed by such records may be used by the Township authorities as a factor in determining whether the applicant is qualified to act as a Pemberton Township employee.
The expenses of the examinations and investigations required by this article shall be paid by the Township of Pemberton.
