Only active fire fighters in good standing in
the City Fire Department shall be permitted to drive fire apparatus.
Such drivers must be at least 21 years of age, have a driver's license
in good standing issued by the State of New Jersey and must be fully
instructed in the use, care and operation of the vehicle which he
or she operates. Said drivers must be approved as competent drivers
by the Chief.
The Police Department shall function at the
request of the Commanding Officer of the City Fire Department and
shall provide officers or special officers to handle traffic, protect
property and prevent destruction of evidence if it is deemed necessary
by the commanding officer.
Any fire fighter who refuses or willfully neglects
to respond to calls for drills or fires shall be liable to expulsion
or suspension from the Department on complaint of the Chief.
