Article I Liability of Volunteer Fire Companies

§ 154-1 Indemnification by Borough.

The Borough of Moosic hereby agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Volunteer Fire Companies, their officers and employees from liability arising from enforcement and/or nonenforcement of the Fire Prevention Code while acting for or on behalf of the Borough of Moosic.

Article II Key Lock Boxes

§ 154-2 Key box requirement.

All newly constructed or renovated properties located within the Borough of Moosic having an automatic fire alarm system or fire sprinkler system shall be required to equip said property with a key box. Residential property shall be exempt from this requirement.

§ 154-3 Key box type.

The key box shall be of the UL type and approved by the Greenwood and Moosic Fire Department. The key box shall be installed in a location approved by the joint decision of both the Greenwood and Moosic Hose Co. line officers.

§ 154-4 Key box contents.

The key boxes shall contain the following:

A. Keys to locked points of egress, whether on the interior or exterior of such buildings;

B. Keys to locked mechanical rooms;

C. Keys to locked electrical rooms;

D. Keys to elevator controls;

E. Keys to other areas as are described by the Fire Department.

§ 154-5 Violations and penalties.

Any building owner violating this article after notice from the Greenwood or Moosic Hose Co. shall be subject to a fine of not more than $600, plus costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
