This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Town of Mansfield
Street Numbering Ordinance."
Reference herein to the Town Manager shall also include any agent, officer,
official or employee of the Town of Mansfield authorized by the Town Manager
of Mansfield to perform any of the duties authorized in this chapter.
The Town Manager or his or her designee shall assign to each house,
commercial or industrial building located on any street or highway a number
by which it shall be known and may alter such numbers and renumber such houses,
commercial or industrial buildings on any street or highway. It shall be the
duty of the Town Manager or his or her designee, whenever hereafter a new
street or highway is accepted, to assign numbers at such measured intervals
or distance as, in the opinion of said Town Manager or his or her designee,
the public interest shall require.
A.
Whenever the Town Manager or his or her designee, acting
in accordance with the foregoing section, shall have assigned numbers to or
shall have renumbered any buildings located on any street or highway as aforesaid,
the Town Manager or his or her designee shall forthwith send to the owner
or owners of buildings located upon streets or highways a written statement
and notice informing him or them of such numbering and directing said owner
or owners to affix, in a manner visible from the street or highway, reflective
figures no smaller than 31/2 inches indicating the number or numbers thereto
assigned; and it shall become the duty of the owner to affix said number within
30 days after the sending of such notice.
B.
It shall be unlawful to display a number not assigned
by the Town Manager or his or her designee.
Failure to post any number under the terms of this chapter shall be
a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of up to $5. Each separate day
such violation is continued shall constitute a separate offense.
