No person shall run, drive or operate any motor vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of the speed limit designated over, upon or along the following designated public highways or streets or the following designated areas of public highways or streets in the Village of Patchogue:

No person shall run, drive or operate any motor vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of 15 miles per hour over, upon or along that portion or portions of the public highways of the Village of Patchogue designated by signs and outlined as a school zone.

No person shall run, drive or operate any motor vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of 30 miles per hour over, upon or along any other public highway or street or portion of public highway or street in the Village of Patchogue not designated in § 415-2 of this article.

Nothing contained in this article shall apply to any of the following vehicles when the same are responding for emergency work in case of fire, accident, public disaster or impending danger: motor vehicles, trucks and apparatus of the Fire Department or the Police Department, ambulances or the emergency repair vehicles of public-service corporations.[1]

Editor's Note: Original § 87-7, Penalties, amended 1-8-1968, which followed this section, was repealed 2-8-1982 by L.L. No. 8-1982. Said local law also provided that the Board of Trustees may, from time to time, fix specific penalties to be applicable to various violations of original Ch. 87 (now Ch. 415) of the Village Code.
