A. 
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-156 and N.J.S.A. 40A:14-156.1, the appropriate Township officials are hereby authorized to execute separate mutual aid agreements with the Town of Boonton, Boonton Township, East Hanover Township, Fairfield, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills and West Caldwell for the provisions of police assistance in the event of an emergency, subject to the following terms and conditions which shall be expressly included in the agreements executed between the Township of Montville and the respective parties.
B. 
Each party agrees that, in the event of a police emergency within the jurisdiction of the other party, law enforcement services and assistance will be provided upon request and to the extent reasonably possible without endangering persons or property within the jurisdiction of the party rendering such assistance.
All mutual police aid rendered pursuant to such agreements shall be provided without charge or expense to the party receiving such assistance. Each party to the mutual aid agreement acknowledges that, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-156, it shall be solely responsible for the provision of any and all salary and other benefits for members of the Police Department and force rendering assistance within the other jurisdiction to the same extent as if such members of the Police Department and force were performing their duties within the jurisdiction of the party providing the assistance.
Each party to the mutual aid agreement agrees to provide the other party with proof of insurance coverage for injuries or damage caused by or to the members of the Police Department and vehicles rendering mutual aid assistance within its jurisdiction.
All such mutual aid agreements shall have an initial term of one year, and they shall be automatically renewed for additional and successive one-year terms, unless and until one of the parties thereto elects to terminate the agreement by formal action in a manner consistent with law and written notice for the same is provided to the other party, by certified mail addressed to the Mayor, Municipal Clerk or other person authorized to accept service.
