Fee schedule — See Ch. 169.
False fire alarms — See Ch. 189, Art. II.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for a procedure and penalties to address false alarms which are responded to by the Police Department.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FALSE ALARM
Any alarm actuated by inadvertence, negligence or unintentional act of someone other than an intruder, including as well alarms caused by malfunctioning of the alarm device or other relevant equipment, but not including intentional false alarms subject to penalty under the disorderly persons law.
PERSON
Includes any natural person, partnership, corporation or association.
A. 
The Chief of Police shall cause an investigation to be made and a record kept of all alarms which are reported. When those alarms are false, the Chief of Police shall prescribe the fees set forth in Chapter 169, Fee Schedule.
B. 
The following buildings shall be exempt from false alarm fees:
(1) 
Government buildings.
(2) 
Educational buildings.
(3) 
Houses of worship.
(4) 
Nonprofit organizations.
