[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Monticello 6-20-1977 by L.L. No. 4-1977 (Ch. 84 of the 1976 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Board of Trustees of the Village, by resolution, may establish fire lanes and fire zones upon private property within the Village of Monticello upon recommendation of the Fire Chief or Code Enforcement Official. Any such resolution shall describe the boundaries of the fire lane or zone established in terms sufficient to identify the limits of same without any necessity for describing said lane or zone by metes and bounds.[1]

Editor's Note: Four fire lane areas were established by resolution of the Board of Trustees at a regular meeting on 7-5-1977. For a complete description of the fire lanes so established, see the minutes of that meeting.
[Amended 6-21-1999 by L.L. No. 5-1999]
Upon making of any resolution establishing a fire lane or fire zone, the Board of Trustees shall direct that any such lane or zone be posted with signs indicating that the area is a fire lane or zone and indicating that obstruction of same is prohibited, and the Board may further direct that the limits of said zone be indicated by appropriate pavement markings. Any required pavement markings or signs on private property shall be completed at the property owner's expense.
No person shall obstruct a fire lane or zone established by this chapter by parking a vehicle, erecting a fence or permitting or maintaining any other obstruction within the boundaries of a fire lane or zone established by and described in a resolution of the Board of Trustees.
