[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the
Town of Buchanan 11-4-1997 as Ch. 62 of the 1997 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Town Plan Commission shall consist of seven
members, one of whom shall be the Town Chairperson, one shall be a
Town Board member, and five shall be citizen resident members of recognized
experience and qualification appointed by the Town Chairperson and
confirmed by the Town Board; such citizen resident members shall not
be Town officials.
The term of each member, except the Town Chairperson
and Town Board member, shall be three years, and the terms of such
members shall be staggered. The terms of the Town Chairperson and
Town Board member shall coincide with their term of office on the
Town Board.
The Town Chairperson shall appoint the Chairperson
of the Town Plan Commission and may appoint himself/herself.
Members shall be subject to removal by the Town
Chairperson for cause upon written charges and after a hearing before
the Town Board; such hearing shall be closed to the public unless
the member subject to removal requests a public hearing.
A.
The Town Plan Commission shall adopt rules for its
government and procedures. Meetings shall be held at the call of the
Chairperson and at such other times as the Town Plan Commission may
determine. All meetings shall be open to the public.

The Town Plan Commission shall keep minutes of its
proceedings, showing the vote of each member upon each question, or
if absent or failing to vote, indicating such fact, and shall keep
records of all official actions which shall be public record.
C.
The Town Plan Commission shall have the powers and
duties prescribed in § 62.23, Wis. Stats., including the
power to investigate, review and make recommendations to the Town
Board on all planning and zoning matters within the Town and to conduct
public hearings.
