This chapter shall apply to the use, storage and handling of compressed liquefied petroleum or other flammable gases.
An application for a permit accompanied by plans shall be made to the Village Engineer and Fire Chief for all systems connected from real property to liquefied petroleum or other compressed flammable gas container or containers. Upon certification by the Village Engineer and Fire Chief, a permit will be issued by the Enforcement Officer.
The Chief of the Fire Department or his designee may restrict the storage of compressed or liquefied gases inside the Village of Johnson City to any amount which they deem safe; the restrictions must be approved by the Village Board.
The National Fire Protection Association standards for the storage and handling of liquefied petroleum gases shall be accepted as necessary requirements in this chapter.
Existing installations for the storage or use of compressed flammable or liquefied petroleum gas may be continued in use, provided that such use does not constitute a distinct hazard to life or adjoining property.
