The state traffic law regulating the speed of motor vehicles shall be applicable upon all streets within the Village of LeRoy, except as this article, as authorized by state law, establishes speed regulations applicable throughout the Village of LeRoy.
A. 
Village-wide basis. Thirty miles per hour is hereby established as the maximum speed limit at which vehicles may proceed on or along highways within this Village except on highways as follows:
(1) 
Lake Street, Clay Street and Wolcott Street from its intersection with Clay Street to the Village limits (New York State Route 19).
B. 
School zones.
(1) 
Within school zones:
(a) 
For Wolcott Street, from its intersection with Lincoln Avenue to Main Street, the maximum speed limit at which vehicles may proceed, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on those days when school is in session, shall be 15 miles per hour.
(b) 
For Main Street, from its intersection with Wolcott Street to its intersection with Trigon Park, the maximum speed limit at which vehicles may proceed, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on those days when school is in session, shall be 20 miles per hour.
(c) 
For Lake Street (New York State Route 19), from a point 300 feet southerly from the south boundary of the Holy Family School Buildings to the intersection of said Lake Street with School Street, the maximum speed limit at which vehicles may proceed, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on those days when school is in session shall be 25 miles per hour.
(d) 
For the entire length of Trigon Park and the entire length of Stanley Place, the maximum speed limit at which a vehicle may proceed shall be 15 miles per hour at all times.
(2) 
The Chief of Police is hereby directed to post signs at the above described intersections informing motorists when reduced speed limits are in effect, and signs visible to traffic lanes approaching intersections where reduced speed limits are to take effect at least 100 yards before such an intersection. Such advance notice is not required, however, for Stanley Place and Trigon Park.
(3) 
In addition to speed limits as established in Subsections B(1)(a), (b) and (c) above, for a period from one hour before school or a session foreshortened by some emergency or other severe weather warnings, the Chief of Police is hereby directed to post appropriate intersections, at and for the appropriate speed limit signs, at the appropriate intersections, at and for the appropriate times when he is notified of such school closings.
C. 
The speed limit shall be twenty-five miles per hour on:

Bacon Street for its full length.
(2) 
Pleasant Street for its full length.
(3) 
Mill Street for its full length.
(4) 
South Street for its full length.

(5) 
Wolcott Street for its full length; except that the lower speed limit set forth in § 201-37B(1)(a) (the school zone) shall still apply during the hours specified therein.

Any person violating any provisions of this article shall be subject to the applicable sections of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.
