Additional instances may arise when an employee needs to be away from work for reasons unrelated to vacation, personal or sick time. Those instances are identified, for which the Township shall provide other compensated leave, as follows:

B.
Other family members. One day, for the funeral. Other family members include grandparents, spouse's grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin and in-laws.

[Amended 6-8-2009 by Ord. No. 2776, approved 11-3-2009]
(1)
Additional time off with pay may be allowed in case of long distance, provided permission is secured in advance from the Mayor.
(2)
The Mayor or his/her designee may extend the period of time off, without pay, at his/her discretion as the case may warrant.
[Amended 6-8-2009 by Ord. No. 2776, approved 11-3-2009]
Time off with pay shall be provided for employees who are required to attend active training, provided a copy of orders received is furnished to the Mayor in advance of such leave.
[Amended 6-8-2009 by Ord. No. 2776, approved 11-3-2009]
The Township recognizes an employee's obligation to fulfill a jury duty summons. Every effort shall be made to permit time off with pay. However, instances may occur when the Mayor shall require the employee to request the court to reschedule the dates of attendance.
A.
The employee shall notify his/her supervisor immediately upon receipt of a jury duty summons.
B.
Employees shall continue to receive full pay for jury duty service, provided that:
(1)
Upon return to work, a receipt for payment received for services rendered as a juror shall be submitted to the Mayor.
(2)
The employee shall reimburse the Township in an amount equal to the payment amount received for jury duty, within five working days following the employee's return to work.
(3)
If that reimbursement is not timely received, then the employee's next paycheck shall be adjusted so that the employee shall not have received any pay from the Township for the days of jury duty service.
C.
If the jury duty extends beyond 30 days, then the Township may request written confirmation from the court administrator, attesting to the need for that employee to continue serving as a juror for the duration of the trial.
