[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of
the City of Hackensack 4-12-1990 as Ord. No. 7-90. Amendments noted where
applicable.]
Commencing with the Board of Education to be
organized in accordance with state law on May 16, 1990, and thereafter,
the Board of Education of the City of Hackensack shall consist of
seven members, to be appointed at the times and in the manner prescribed
by N.J.S.A. 18A:12-8.
All members of the Board of Education serving
at the time of the adoption of this chapter shall continue to serve
until the expiration of the five-year terms to which they were appointed.
In order to ensure that terms of members of
the Board of Education be made to terminate in a uniform manner within
each three-year period as soon as possible, pursuant to the mandates
of N.J.S.A. 18A:12-9, the following schedule of appointments shall
be followed:
A.Â
In the year 1990, at the time and in the manner prescribed
by N.J.S.A. 18A:12-9, three members of the Board of Education shall
be appointed for terms of three years, two years, and one year, respectively.
B.Â
Thereafter, in every succeeding year, all appointments
to fill expired terms shall be for terms of three years.
