The Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Linwood recognize and
are responsive to the efforts being made by federal, county and state governments
to provide for handicapped parking spaces to be located in the proximity of
stores, malls and office buildings.
Certain areas have been designated as handicapped parking spaces and
have been posted as such within the City of Linwood.

Any person who is not a handicapped person, as defined in N.J.S.A. 39:4-204
through 39:4-207, who shall park in a space designated as a handicapped parking
place shall be guilty of violation of this chapter and shall be liable for
a fine of $276 for the first offense and a fine of $276 plus a maximum of
90 days' community service for all subsequent offenses as set forth in Chapter
161, Public Laws of 2003.
Any vehicle which displays a handicapped placard issued by the Director
of the Division of Motor Vehicles in the Department of Law and Public Safety
of the State of New Jersey or a temporary handicapped placard issued by the
Chief of Police of the City of Linwood in accordance with N.J.S.A 39:4-206
shall be permitted to park overtime and shall also be permitted to park in
any space designated as a handicapped parking place.
This chapter is enacted in accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-197.5 and N.J.S.A.
40:48-2.46, which confer upon the City of Linwood the right to restrict parking
spaces for use by handicapped persons in order to preserve and safeguard the
public health, safety, morals and welfare and which further grant the City
of Linwood the power to enact ordinances to enforce such restricted parking.

Handicapped parking on streets. In accordance with the provisions
of N.J.S.A. 39:4-197.5, the following street locations are designated as handicapped
parking spaces. Such spaces are for use by persons who have been issued special
identification cards or plates or placards by the Motor Vehicle Commission,
or a temporary placard issued by the Chief of Police. No other person shall
be permitted to park in these spaces.
