A. 
The Office of the County Physician is hereby created as an appointment of the McLean County Board.
B. 
The County Physician shall be a medical doctor, licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.
A. 
The County Physician shall be responsible for:
(1) 
Performing physical examinations of prospective employees of the County of McLean and for prospective employees of elected officials of the County of McLean, as may be requested from time to time by the County of McLean and said elected officials.
(2) 
Performing, or referring to a specialist for, independent medical examinations for employees before they return to work from a nonoccupational illness or injury, as requested by a County department head.
(3) 
Providing, or referring to a specialist for, medical testing and treatment for wards of the court who are under the guardianship of the McLean County Court Services Department, in accordance with the orders of the court.
(4) 
Providing physical examinations for wards of the court, as requested by the McLean County Court Services Department.
(5) 
Performing such medical consultative duties for the County as may be requested by a County department through the McLean County Health Department.
B. 
Supervision and oversight. The McLean County Board of Health shall have the authority for, supervision and oversight of the County Physician.
During the term of this article, the County Physician shall be responsible for maintaining physician's professional malpractice liability insurance.
