[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Dickinson
as indicated in article histories. Amendments noted where applicable.]
[Adopted 6-10-2002 by L.L. No. 5-2002 (Ch. 15 of the 1983
Code)]
A.Â
An officer or employee eligible for Town health insurance coverage
who is covered by another group health insurance may opt to be paid
a portion of the health insurance premium expense ordinarily paid
by the Town in lieu of enrollment in the Town plan. Upon submission
of a written request to the Supervisor by the 15th of the month, together
with proof of alternate coverage, notice shall be given to the Town's
health insurance carrier withdrawing said officer or employee from
the Town's health insurance plan.
B.Â
If the
alternate carrier providing health insurance coverage for the officer/employee
discontinues coverage for the officer/employee, said officer/employee
shall notify the Town Supervisor immediately. Notice shall thereupon
be given to the Town's health insurance carrier to reinstate
said officer/employee with health insurance coverage under the Town's
health insurance plan, and any reimbursement under this section shall
be discontinued effective as of the date of reinstatement.
Upon the officer/employee's request, the Town shall pay
the officer or employee exercising their option pursuant to this article
50% of the amount the Town would have otherwise paid its health insurance
carrier for the health insurance premium for that person during that
fiscal year, up to a total of $5,000. Said payments shall be made
on a quarterly basis, in April, July, October and January, for the
previous quarter, and shall be prorated for any payments made to the
health insurance carrier during any portion of that quarter.
