As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
Includes any automobile or motor vehicle engaged in the business
of carrying passengers for hire which is held out, announced, or advertised
as operating or running over the public streets in the City, which
accepts and discharges passengers who may offer themselves for transportation
from points or places within the City to points or places within or
without the City; provided however, that the word "taxicab" shall
not be deemed to include, and this chapter shall have no application
to, a bus, jitney, limousine or other vehicular service operating
upon a fixed route by authority of any ordinance or statute or any
franchise or permit issued pursuant to any such ordinance or statute.
