Pursuant to Public Act 155 of the 1972 Legislature, entitled "An Act Concerning Inland Wetlands and Watercourses,[1]" the Town of Bethany creates a Bethany Inland Wetlands Commission to carry out and effectuate the purposes and policies of said act as provided for and with the powers enumerated in C.G.S. § 22a-42(c), which said powers specifically include the power to promulgate regulations in conformity with any such regulations as may or shall be promulgated by the Commissioners of Environmental Protection pursuant to such Act.

Said commission shall consist of seven members, five of whom shall be regular members and two of whom shall be alternate members. All members may be appointed from the Town at large, except that no member shall also be a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals or Conservation Commission. All members shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen and may be removed for cause at any time. Any vacancy shall be filled by appointment of the Board of Selectmen within 60 days.

Four such members shall serve for two years, and three such members shall serve for one year. Thereafter, each member shall be appointed for a three-year term.
