The Town of Bethany shall adopt the following described device
as the Corporate Seal of the Town of Bethany, County of New Haven,
State of Connecticut. The device shall be a perfect circle within
which shall appear another circle. The inner circle shall be a circle
of rope. In the upper aspects of the Seal shall appear the words "TOWN
. OF . BETHANY CONNECTICUT" in two curved lines of print bordering
the inner aspect of the rope circle. On the bottom of the seal also
bordering the inner aspect of the rope circle shall appear the words "INCORPORATED
. 1832." The aforementioned words shall form the top and bottom portion
of a third inner circle, the sides of which shall be made of a string
of five inverted oak leaves on each side. Within the third innermost
circle, there shall be a roadway bisecting the Seal from front to
rear. On the right of center shall be the Christ Episcopal Church,
and to the left of center shall be the First Church of Christ Congregational
and carriage shed. There shall be trees surrounding the churches.
The Seal shall be blue on a white background, which colors shall hereinafter
be the official colors of the Seal of the Town of Bethany.
The following design is hereby adopted as the official and standard
design of such Corporate Seal:
The Town Clerk shall cause the design of such Seal to be engraved
upon metal as the Seal of the town and shall affix the same, as necessary;
and shall also provide the Seal for all other officers of the town
who are required or authorized to have or use the Corporate Seal of
the town.
In January 1989, the town received notice of copyright registration
of the Town Seal, effective July 11, 1988, from the United States
Copyright Registration Office.
