[Adopted by Ord. No. 1992-20 (Sec. 2-38 of the 1987 Revised General Ordinances)]
There is hereby established a Meritorious Service Award for those individuals who serve as volunteers in the Borough of Red Bank Fire Department, First Aid, Fire Police, Ladies Auxiliary or Scuba Diving Team. Members who complete 25 years and who complete 50 years of active service shall receive such awards for their long-standing service to the Borough.
The nature of the award shall be appropriate for the long-standing service to the Borough. It is the intent and desire of the governing body that an appropriate medal be struck and that the fifty-year medal be struck in silver and the twenty-five-year medal be struck in bronze. It is further desired that such medals shall be of a type that may be suspended on a ribbon and be worn with a dress uniform. Additionally, there shall be a service ribbon appropriate to be affixed for daily wear on a service uniform.
There shall be an appropriate public meeting or gathering at which time the honorees shall be ceremoniously presented with their awards by the governing body.
The Borough Clerk shall maintain lists of all recipients of this Meritorious Service Award, which lists shall be formally posted in a conspicuous place in the Borough Hall.
The Meritorious Service Award ceremony shall be held annually. The first ceremony shall honor those volunteers who have accumulated 50 years or 25 years of meritorious service prior to 1992.
