[Adopted by Ord. No. 18-83 (Sec. 2-19 of the 1987 Revised General Ordinances)]
There is hereby created the office of Assistant Treasurer who
shall be nominated by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the
Council at the organizational meeting, or at any time thereafter,
in the event such appointment by the Mayor and Council is deemed advisable
or necessary. The Assistant Treasurer shall operate under the direction
of the Mayor and Council and under the supervision of the Chief Financial
Officer. The duties of the Assistant Treasurer shall be as follows:
A.
Supervision of electronic data processing in the office of the Chief
Financial Officer and Tax Collector.
B.
Assist the Chief Financial Officer in clerical work involved in keeping
of financial records and in all matters relating to the function of
Treasurer as required by law.
C.
When so directed, gives suitable assignments to employees in the
office of the Chief Financial Officer and Tax Collector.
D.
Perform related work as required.
The term of office of the Assistant Treasurer shall expire on
December 31 of the year in which the Assistant Treasurer is appointed.
The salary of the Assistant Treasurer shall be fixed by the
Borough Council in the Borough's Salary Ordinance.
A.
Four years of responsible accounting-bookkeeping experience in work
involving the installation, operation and keeping of systems of municipal
accounts.
B.
Knowledge of and ability to operate electronic data processing equipment.
C.
Completion of or ability to complete courses required by the State
of New Jersey for certification as Municipal Finance Officer.
