A. 
This chapter shall be known as the "Upper Moreland Township Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance."
B. 
This chapter and the regulations herein are adopted for the following purposes:
(1) 
To assure sites are suitable for building purposes and human habitation.
(2) 
To assist the orderly, efficient, integrated and harmonious development of the Township in order to provide the highest quality environment obtainable.
(3) 
To coordinate existing streets with proposed streets, parks or other features of the Township's official plan of streets and highways.
(4) 
To provide adequate open spaces for traffic, recreation, light, water and air and for proper distribution of population, thereby creating conditions favorable to the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the citizens of the Township.
(5) 
To ensure conformance of subdivision and land development plans with the public improvement plans of the Township and coordination of intermunicipal public improvement plans and programs which include counties and the state.
(6) 
To secure equitable handling of all subdivision and land development plans by providing uniform procedures and design standards, plan requirements, processing procedures, improvement construction and conditions of acceptance of public improvements by the Township.
The provisions of this chapter shall be held to be minimum requirements for the promotion of the above purposes. Where the provisions of this chapter impose greater restrictions than those of any other ordinance or regulation or resolution, the provisions of this chapter shall be controlling. Where the provisions of any other ordinance, regulation or resolution impose greater restrictions than this chapter, the provisions of such other ordinance, regulation or resolution shall be controlling.
