There is hereby adopted by the City of Laconia, for the purpose
of establishing rules and regulations for electrical construction,
the National Electrical Code, 2017 Edition, with supplements and as
hereinafter revised, of which not less than three copies have been
and are now filed in the offices of the City Clerk and Code Enforcement
Director of the City of Laconia, and the same is hereby adopted and
incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein the date on which
this chapter shall take effect. Provisions therein shall control all
electrical construction or work on all buildings and other structures
within the corporate limits of the City of Laconia.

No person, firm or corporation shall engage in electrical work without first filing an application with the Director of Code Enforcement and obtaining an electrical permit. Said permit shall be invalid if the authorized work is not commenced within six months after the issuance of the permit or if the authorized work is voluntarily suspended or abandoned by the person or contractor for a period of three months after the commencing of the work. Fees for electrical permits shall be as outlined under Chapter 119, Building Construction, § 119-3. Exceptions: An electrical permit is not required for minor repairs such as replacement of light fixtures, receptacle outlets, switches or an individual branch circuit that is considered a hazard. This exception does not include the upgrading of an electrical service.
This chapter shall be enforced by the Director of Code Enforcement,
who may engage an electrical engineer to act for him. Any person who
violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of
a violation not to exceed a penalty of $100. Such person shall be
deemed to be guilty of a separate offense for each and every day during
any portion of which any violation of this chapter is committed, continued
or permitted by such person and shall be punishable therefor as provided
therein.
