There is hereby created an Atlantic City Advisory Board on Multicultural Affairs, which shall consist of not less than 11 nor more then 15 members, of which nine members will be appointed by City Council and two members will be appointed by the Mayor of the City of Atlantic City, all to serve without compensation, and a Program Development Specialist, Cultural and Heritage Affairs, which is a paid position.
All appointments to the Board shall be for a term of three years, except that upon the original organization of the Board, 1/3 of the membership shall be appointed for a term of one year; and 1/3 of the membership, and any odd number, for a term of three years. Thereafter, the term of each member shall be for three years, and all members shall serve until his successor is duly appointed and qualified. Any unexpired term shall be for the unexpired term of said member only.
This Advisory Board shall act in an advisory capacity to the administration and City Council of the City of Atlantic City and shall attempt to foster, through community effort or otherwise, good will, cooperation and conciliation among the groups and elements of the multicultured inhabitants of the community and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for the development of policies and procedures.
