This chapter shall be entitled "A Local Law Adopting Regulations
Regarding the Freedom of Information Law and Article 6 of the Public
Officers Law."
Pursuant to § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law and
the Village Law of the State of New York, the Incorporated Village
of West Hampton Dunes, County of Suffolk, and State of New York, hereby
enacts by this chapter a local law of the Village of West Hampton
Dunes.
The purpose and intent of this chapter is to adopt uniform regulations
and procedures in the Village of West Hampton Dunes for compliance
with the Freedom of Information Law and Article 6 of the Public Officers
Law of the State of New York.

Records Officer. The Village Clerk of the Village of West Hampton
Dunes shall be designated and serve as the Records Officer of the
Village of West Hampton Dunes until and or unless the Mayor of the
Village of West Hampton Dunes shall designate another individual to
serve as Records Officer and such appointment be approved by the Board
of Trustees.

Freedom of information request form. The form to be used for all
requests made to the Village of West Hampton Dunes or any of its officers
or boards under the Freedom of Information Law shall be that set form
as Appendix A to this chapter until such time as another form or an
amendment to that form shall be approved by the Board of Trustees.[1] All requests made to the Village of West Hampton Dunes
under that law shall be made on the approved form only.

Registering of forms. The Records Officer is required to register
the receipt of each request form by the dated stamp receipt of the
Village of West Hampton Dunes and a separate sequential receipt number
which shall be assigned to the request by the Records Officer which
shall include the year of the request and the number which that request
is for that year. The Records Officer shall be responsible to provide
a copy of each request made to the Mayor and Village Attorney upon
receipt.

Cost of copies. The cost of copies of documents shall be not less
than $0.25 per page or the actual cost of copying the document or
such higher amount as may be permitted by law and approved by a resolution
of the Board of Trustees.

Compliance with Article 6 of the Public Officers Law. It shall be
the responsibility of the Records Officer of the Village to comply
with the requirements set forth in Article 6 of the Public Officers
Law which are hereby adopted by reference by the Village of West Hampton
Dunes and made part of this chapter.
