Editor's Note: The Borough of Spotswood adopted the Mayor-Council Plan B form of government under N.J.S.A. 40:69A-49 et seq. The Laws of 1981, c. 465, repealed this plan but allowed in N.J.S.A. 40:69A-208.1 for the continuation of Mayor-Council form of government until such time as it shall be abandoned or altered according to statute. See now N.J.S.A. 40:69A-31 et seq.
The Council shall be the legislative body of the Borough and shall exercise all legislative powers not inconsistent with the general laws of the State of New Jersey.
The Council, in addition to such other powers conferred upon it by the general laws of the State of New Jersey, may:
A. 
Require any Borough officer, in its discretion, to prepare and submit sworn statements regarding the performance of his official duties, and otherwise to investigate the conduct of any department, office or agency of the Borough government.
B. 
Remove any Borough officer, other than the Mayor or a member of Council, for cause, upon notice and an opportunity to be heard.

Borough Council. The Council President and Borough Council members shall receive an annual salary in accordance with the salary ordinance.
