A. 
No person shall operate a motor vehicle or tractor upon any sidewalk in the Borough; nor shall any person operate a motor vehicle upon or across any sidewalk except in order to gain access to or egress from a driveway or alley at such locations where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed, shall have been properly cut down for the purpose. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay costs of prosecution and either or both of the following:
(1) 
To pay a fine of not more than $300.
(2) 
Except where infirmity or age or other circumstance would create a hardship, be directed by the Court in which conviction is obtained to pick up and remove litter from public property or private property, or both, with prior permission of the legal owner. If the person has no prior record of conviction for violation of this section, he may be sentenced to pick up and remove litter for not less than eight hours nor more than 16 hours. Upon a second conviction, the person may be sentenced to pick up and remove litter for not less than 16 hours and not more than 32 hours. Upon third and subsequent convictions, he may be sentenced to pick up and remove litter for not less than 40 hours and not more than 80 hours. The court shall schedule the time to be spent on such activities in such a manner that it does not interfere with the person's employment and does not interfere substantially with the person's family responsibilities or religious obligations.
B. 
If any person shall violate any provision of this section, and be convicted thereof, and fail to pay such fine, costs and/or successfully complete pickup and removal of litter as aforesaid, as directed by the Court, may be imprisoned for a number of days equal to one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.

B. 
Any person who shall operate a vehicle or tractor at a speed in excess of that established therefor upon any highway or portion thereof specified in this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35 and costs of prosecution; if convicted of exceeding the maximum speed by more than five miles per hour, an additional fine of $2 per mile for each mile in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit.
C. 
Any person who does not comply with an order entered as a result of a conviction under this section may be imprisoned for a number of days equal to one day for each $40 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.
A. 
At the following intersections, official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

B. 
Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than three days.

Any person who shall operate a motor vehicle or tractor upon any highway or portion thereof hereby established as a one-way highway other than in the direction hereby established for traffic thereon shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs of prosecution or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, may undergo imprisonment for a number of days equal to one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.
A. 
The following highways are hereby established as through highways, and the operator of every vehicle or tractor upon approaching any such highway at any intersection thereof (except for such intersections where there are now or shall hereafter be located official traffic signals)[1] shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such through highway:

B. 
Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such through highway, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and cost of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than three days.

The following intersections (in addition to highways intersecting with the through highways established by § 244-10 of this article) are hereby established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named highway upon the first-named highway in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles and tractors approaching any such intersection upon the first-named highway in the direction or directions hereby indicated in each case shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such intersection:

B.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any motor vehicle or other tractor, trailer or tractor-trailer combination having a gross weight in excess of that herein respectively prescribed upon any of the following highways or portions thereof within the Borough of Verona:

B. 
Provided that any school bus, emergency vehicle or vehicles making local deliveries or pickups, unless a reasonable alternate route is available, shall be exempt from the prohibitions and restrictions imposed by this section.
C. 
Any person operating a vehicle or combination upon a highway in violation of a prohibition and restriction imposed in this section, when it is determined that such highway may be damaged or destroyed, is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $75, except that any person convicted of operating a vehicle with a gross weight in excess of a posted weight shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds or part thereof in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight.
D. 
Any person operating a vehicle or combination upon a highway in violation of a prohibition or restriction imposed in this section based upon hazardous traffic conditions or other safety factors is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $25 and not more than $100.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle or tractor upon any highway in the Borough that is under construction, resurfacing or repair, in disregard of any official sign, barricade or notice that the same is closed to vehicular traffic. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 10 days.

A. 
The Mayor is hereby authorized to designate as play highways, whenever he shall deem such action advisable and for whatever period of time directed by him, any portion of any highway in the Borough whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted. Such highway shall be set apart for the purpose under the direction of the Mayor.
B. 
No person shall operate any motor vehicle or tractor upon any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated, except in case of emergency, with special permission of the Mayor or of the police officer in charge, who shall first clear such play highway of all persons using such highway for the purpose for which it was set aside. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, may undergo imprisonment for a number of days equal to one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.

The operator of any motor vehicle involved in an accident in the Borough and required by law to report such accident to any department or agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or any other person required to make such report shall, at the time of making such report to the commonwealth, make a written report to the Chief of Police of the Borough containing the same information. Any person failing to make the report to the Chief of Police hereby required shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, may undergo imprisonment for a number of days equal to one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle traveling upon the first-named street at any of the following intersections, in the direction or directions indicated in each case, to make a left turn onto the second-named street, as indicated, at any time when such a turn is prohibited by this section:

B. 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution. Any person who is in default of payment of the fine and costs as ordered by the Court may be imprisoned for a number of days equal to one day for each $40 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.
