This article shall apply to all individuals who serve as a volunteer in the Township's Police or Fire Auxiliary, in CERT[1] and/or on the Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad.

The following words and phrases shall have the meaning set forth in this section:
MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING
Any member having at least one year of active service in the Maplewood Police or Fire Auxiliary, in CERT or in the Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad, as certified to by chief officer of the organization.
VOLUNTEER
An individual who contributes service to the Maplewood Police or Fire Auxiliary, CERT or the Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad without remuneration or without a formal agreement or contract for hire.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE
The required percentage of activity, participation or attendance necessary to qualify as a bona fide member of the Maplewood Police or Fire Auxiliary, CERT or Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad.
All volunteers as defined herein shall be exempt from 1/2 of the fee for any membership category in the Maplewood Community Pool and shall be exempt from the municipal portion of the fee for pet licenses and building permits on their primary residence.
