§ 10-1 Rate.

The rate of compensation for the office of Commissioner in North Versailles Township is set at $3,250 per year.

§ 10-2 Applicability.

This rate of compensation shall only be applicable to persons elected for terms of office to commence on January 1, 1996, and thereafter. Hereinafter, when persons take office as North Versailles Township Commissioners, they shall be entitled to the rate set forth in § 10-2 above. A person who is presently sitting as Township Commissioner with an unexpired term shall not be entitled to receive an increase in the rate of compensation for and during the present term of his or her office. If such person is reelected, then that person may receive the rate of compensation set forth in this article.

§ 10-3 Effective date.

This article shall become effective the first day of January 1996.

The title and "whereas" clauses contained above are hereby incorporated into this article by reference.

Said title and whereas clause of Ord. No. 1050 read as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NORTH VERSAILLES, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF TOWNSHIP COMMISSIONERS ON THE MUNICIPAL HEALTH CARE PLAN AT THE SAME COST AS IS PAID BY THE MAJORITY OF ALL TOWNSHIP EMPLOYEES.
"WHEREAS, the First Class Township Code, 53 P.S. § 56563, states that Township Commissioners are eligible to be placed on the Township's health, hospital, medical and surgical insurance policies."

§ 10-5 Statutory authority; notice.

B. 

Any Commissioner electing to obtain Township health care coverage shall give written notice to the Township Secretary requesting such coverage.

§ 10-6 Required contribution.

It is recognized that currently no Township employee is required to contribute a portion of the Township's policy premium but it is foreseeable that future contract negotiations may require such contribution. In that event, Township Commissioners shall contribute the same portion of the policy's premium as is paid by the majority of Township employees.

§ 10-7 Minimum contribution.

The minimum contribution required by this article may be altered by the Board of Commissioners by resolution.

§ 10-8 Applicability.

Health care coverage for Township Commissioners authorized by this article shall not extend to a Commissioner's spouse or his or her dependents.

§ 10-9 Authorization.

The Township Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate the purpose of this article.
