Town of Barton, WI Chapter 273 Firearms and Hunting

§ 273-1 Prohibited acts.

A. It shall be unlawful for any person for any reason to carry a loaded firearm, other than a police officer in the performance of his or her official duties, and/or to hunt:

(1) Within 100 yards of a building devoted to human occupancy while on the lands of another, with or without the permission of the owner or occupant;

(2) Upon the lands of another person without permission from the owner or occupant of such land;

(3) Within 50 feet from the roadway's center, except under certain conditions involving the person's possession of a disabled hunting permit, and said prohibition applies to all public roads, paved or unpaved, which are shown on any county highway maps.

B. It shall be unlawful for any person for any reason to discharge a firearm of any kind except consistent with hunting regulations, for such purposes as target practice, trap shooting, pleasure shooting, skeet shooting, "sighting" of the firearm, or any other reason except for being consistent with hunting regulations, prior to 7:00 a.m. to dusk.

C. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any motor vehicles, snowmobiles, bicycles, trail bikes, all-terrain vehicles or other such types of vehicles while engaged in hunting or to otherwise endanger or impose upon the safety, lives or property of other persons.

§ 273-2 Adoption of hunting regulations.

The Town of Barton further adopts those hunting regulations stated in Ch. 29, Wis. Stats., entitled "Wild Animals and Plants," as if more fully set forth herein and any and all Department of Natural Resources regulations regulating hunting as if more fully set forth herein.

§ 273-3 Violations and penalties.

Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be required to pay a forfeiture of not less of $100 nor more than $500, together with all costs of prosecution, and, in default of any payment of such forfeiture may be imprisoned in the County Jail of Washington County, Wisconsin for a period of time not to exceed 30 days or until such forfeiture is paid.
