[HISTORY: Adopted by the Council of the Borough of Milford 7-6-1970 as Ch. 9 of
the Revised General Ordinances; amended in its entirety at time of
adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. III). Subsequent
amendments noted where applicable.]
One license may be issued for every 1,000 residents or fraction
thereof.
Application for a taxicab license shall imply consent to inspection
of all taxicabs covered by the license by the New Jersey State Police
or the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Prior to the issuance
of a license, the New Jersey State Police or the New Jersey Motor
Vehicle Commission shall determine that the taxicab to be licensed
is clean, fit, of good appearance and well painted and appears to
be safe and suitable for the transportation of passengers. The New
Jersey State Police or the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission shall
reinspect all taxicabs from time to time while a license is in effect.
No person shall drive a taxicab within the Borough unless he has obtained a taxicab driver's license from the Clerk. The fee for this license shall be as prescribed in Chapter 10, Fees, of this Code. In addition to the other information that may be required of applicants for licenses in the Borough, the applicant for a taxicab driver's license shall furnish evidence that he has the appropriate state license to operate a motor vehicle for this purpose.
