Under the direction and supervision of the Board of Trustees,
the Superintendent of the Department of Public Works of the Village
of Corinth has supervision and charge of the construction, improvement
and repair of the public grounds, squares, parks, streets, walks,
culverts and of such other property of the Village as the Board may
determine, and may employ the requisite laborers and direct them as
to the time and manner of the execution of their work. He shall certify
to the Board of Trustees, when required, the names of all persons
who have been so employed, the rate of compensation and their term
of service.
A.
It shall be the duty of the Superintendent of the Department of Public
Works, subject always to the control and direction of the Board of
Trustees, to keep the streets, sidewalks, culverts, drains, lanes
and alleys and all public places in good condition, repair and order.

It shall be his duty to certify under oath as to the correctness
of all accounts and claims against the Village for work done or material
furnished by or under his authority and to see that all curbing and
sidewalks shall comply with the established grade or the grade hereinafter
to be established as to the same, and whenever a sidewalk or curbing
is ordered to be laid, constructed or repaired, if the owner opposite
such sidewalk or curbing shall fail or neglect to lay, construct or
repair the same within the time prescribed by notice so to do from
the Superintendent, such Superintendent, under the direction of the
Board of Trustees, shall lay, construct or repair the same at the
expense of such owner.[1]

The Superintendent of Department of Public Works shall serve
a four-year term, appointed by the Mayor and subject to the approval
of the Board of Trustees.
