City of Mission, KS Article III Sidewalk Construction

Section 515.360 Required Sidewalks. [1]

Sidewalks shall be installed by the subdivider/developer on both sides of all primary and secondary thoroughfares and collector streets and on one (1) side of all local residential streets. Sidewalks shall be required only on peripheral streets in industrial parks. All sidewalks shall be not less than four (4) feet in width, of Portland cement concrete and shall comply with the specifications of the City. Sidewalks shall be located in the platted street right-of-way abutting the property line, and whenever setbacks allow, these sidewalks shall be separated from the street curb by a distance of at least five (5) feet and landscaped with street trees as indicated in Section 240.070. Walks shall also be installed in any pedestrian easements as may be required by the Planning Commission.

Section 515.370 Permit Required.

Any person, firm, association or corporation desiring or required to construct sidewalks within the City shall, before commencing construction, obtain a permit therefor in the manner and subject to the requirements set out in Article IV of this Chapter.

Section 515.380 Adoption of Sidewalk Construction Standards.

A certain document entitled "Street Specifications and Standards" prepared by Kansas City Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association, Edition 1995, three (3) copies of which, marked "official copy", are on file with the City Clerk of the City of Mission, Kansas, is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference, pursuant to K.S.A. Section 12-3009 to K.S.A. Section 12-3012 as the sidewalk standards and specifications of the City of Mission, Kansas, subject to deletions therefrom as hereinafter set out.
