Section 660.010 Committee Established — Membership.

In order to promote commerce and attract visitors to our community, the Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) is hereby established. Membership may include up to twenty-five (25) members consisting of the following: one (1) member from each Council Ward shall be appointed and must be residents thereof; ten (10) members from the Mission business community and ten (10) members from the Mission community; and up to two (2) members from the Governing Body. Members of the MCVB shall be appointed at the first (1st) regular meeting of the Governing Body in January. Terms of appointment shall be for a period of two (2) years, staggered to avoid expirations in the same year. The Mayor may reappoint members to a term of less than two (2) years to fill an unexpired term or to avoid expiration of terms within the same year. Terms shall automatically expire at the end of two (2) years.

Section 660.020 Officers.

The Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau shall have an executive board consisting of no more than sixteen (16) members from which a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary shall be elected. The Chairman shall conduct and chair all meetings and shall have authority to call special meetings with a minimum three (3) days' notice to all members. Times of meetings shall be posted publicly and open to members of the public. Meetings shall be held in City/public facilities. The Vice Chairman shall act in the absence of the Chairman. Officers shall be elected at the first (1st) regularly scheduled meeting after the Governing Body has appointed new members (if any) at the first (1st) regularly scheduled meeting in January.

Section 660.030 Steering Committee.

The Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau shall have a steering committee made up of volunteers from the area. The steering committee can have unlimited membership and appointment to the steering committee is done solely at the discretion of the Mayor. There are no terms or limits in serving on the Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau steering committee. All steering committee members serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.

Section 660.040 Meetings.

The Chairman shall conduct and chair all meetings and shall have authority to call special meetings with a minimum three (3) days' notice to all members. Times of meetings shall be posted publicly and open to members of the public. Meetings shall be held in City/public facilities. The Vice Chairman shall act in the absence of the Chairman. Officers shall be elected at the first (1st) regularly scheduled meeting after the Governing Body has appointed new members (if any) at the first (1st) regularly scheduled meeting in January. Meetings will be conducted in accordance with the Code of Procedures for Kansas Local Governments.

Section 660.050 Funding.

The Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau shall be the sole recipient of all Visitors Bureau taxes as is prescribed by Kansas Statute. The Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau will also receive all monies generated by City of Mission sponsored community-wide festivals.
