GENERAL REFERENCES
Board of Health — See Ch. 12.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
LAUNDROMAT
The premises where two or more coin-operated laundry machines or dryers are installed and used by the general public.
A. 
Any person desiring to operate a laundromat shall make application in writing to the Board of Health. Such application shall include the following information:
(1) 
The applicant's full name, residence, telephone number and post office address, and whether the applicant is an individual firm or corporation; if a partnership, the names and addresses of all the partners shall be included; if a corporation, the names and addresses of all officers shall be included.
(2) 
The proposed location of the establishment, a floor plan showing the building outline and location of the equipment.
(3) 
The manufacturer of the machine, the trade name and the manufacturer's agent.
(4) 
The name or names of all maintenance personnel and their telephone numbers.
(5) 
The signature of the applicant or its duly authorized officer.
B. 
Upon receipt of such application, the Board shall make such investigation as may be necessary of the maintenance and storage facilities, as well as the machines and their locations in the premises, to determine compliance with the provisions of this chapter.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the operation of an establishment where one or more laundry machines or dryers are offered for public use which, upon insertion of a coin, coins or token or by other means, provide self-service laundry facilities without first having applied to and procured a permit from the Board of Health.
B. 
The fee for a permit as required hereunder shall be established by resolution of Borough Council. All permits shall expire on the 31st day of December each year.

A. 
All rooms used in connection with the laundromat shall be kept in a clean and sanitary condition and shall be provided with adequate light and ventilation.
B. 
The floors shall be of such construction as to be easily cleaned; shall be smooth and kept clean and in good repair.
C. 
The walls and ceilings shall be smooth, in good repair and shall be painted in a light color.
D. 
All water supplied to laundromats shall meet the requirements of this chapter.
E. 
All plumbing installed in laundromats shall meet the requirements of the Collingdale Plumbing Code.[1]

F. 
Hours of operation shall be limited from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 and/or to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days.
