The Planning Director shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors and shall hold no elective office in the Township. The Planning Director shall meet the qualifications established by the Township and shall be able to demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Township, a working knowledge of municipal planning.
A. 
The Planning Director shall have powers and duties as provided by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC), 53 P.S. § 10101 et seq., as amended, the Code of Jackson Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and other ordinances adopted by the Township as if fully set forth herein. In addition, the Planning Director shall have the following specific powers and duties:
(1) 
To be the administrator of the Planning Department.
(2) 
To advise Township officials and the public on:
(a) 
Traffic and parking issues.
(b) 
Preparation and modification of Township maps, plans and ordinances.
(3) 
To review sketch plan submissions, subdivision and land development applications under the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (Chapter 22).
(4) 
To hold preapplication conferences with developers and/or landowners in accordance with the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (Chapter 22).
(5) 
To review applications for conditional use under the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 27) and report on such applications to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
(6) 
To review applications for special exception and variances under the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 27) and report on such applications to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors and Zoning Hearing Board.
(7) 
To advise landowners and developers in regard to the Township's planning practices and procedures.
(8) 
To prepare an annual report of Township planning activities and present the information to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors each year.
B. 
When the position of Planning Director is vacant, the powers and duties of the Planning Director under the Code of Jackson Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and any other Township ordinances shall be held and exercised by the Board of Supervisors.
