No person shall use any building or premises for the buying and selling, gathering, delivery, shipping, storing or salvaging or old iron, bottles, paper, rags, farm machinery, vehicles or other materials commonly included in the term "junk" without obtaining a license for the operation of a junk or salvage yard. Storage of one or more unlicensed vehicles on the premises shall be prima facie evidence of operation of a junk or salvage yard. All junk and salvage operations must be licensed by applicable federal, state and county agencies.
Application for a license shall be made to the Village Administrator-Clerk/Treasurer, stating.
A. 
The location and description of the premises to be licensed.
B. 
The nature of the business to be conducted on the premises.
C. 
The type of construction of any building to be used in connection with the business.
D. 
The applicant's name and address and, if a firm or corporation, the names and addresses of all officers.
The fee for the license issued shall be as set by the Village Board. The license shall expire 12 months after issue but may be renewed by the Village Board of Trustees if it is satisfied that the license and premises comply with regulations.

No junk or salvage material shall be stored within 500 feet of any residence other than the owner of the premises. No junk or salvage yard shall be less than 150 feet from a lake, river, stream or within 100 feet of any street right-of-way. All salvage yards shall be screened so that salvage materials are not visible from other property in the vicinity, nor from public right-of-way such as roads, streets and highways.
