The position of Community Counselor is hereby created in the Township of Cranford.
The Community Counselor shall be responsible to the Township Committee through the Township Administrator and to the Cranford Board of Education through the Superintendent of Public Schools and shall be responsible to plan, direct, coordinate and provide a comprehensive school- and community-wide chemical use, crisis intervention, employee assistance, family, personal and substance abuse counseling program for students and their families and employees and their families of the Township of Cranford and the Board of Education; referral assistance for students and their families and employees and their families of the Township of Cranford and the Board of Education; after-care assistance to students and adults returning to the community after completing therapy for chemical/substance abuse problems; prevention program to provide both students and adults with the appropriate information and developmental experiences necessary to make responsible decisions regarding chemical/substance abuse and nonuse; and staff training and development for in-service experience for employees of the Township and Board of Education and community members that have responsibility for implementing a chemical and substance abuse program.
The Community Counselor shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee and Cranford Board of Education and shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Committee.
The Community Counselor shall receive such salary as shall be provided from time to time by the Township Committee by ordinance.
